I live in Mississauga, Ontario
and was a proud mother of one - Rottweiler that is. I lost my
special guy in February 2006 at the ripe old age of 12.
My interest in Rottweilers began in 1994 when I (reluctantly) went
to visit a Rottweiler breeder about a puppy. I must tell you that it
definitely was not my idea and I was not thrilled about it one bit.
You see I wanted to have children someday and I didn’t think a
Rottweiler could interact with children. I can't remember the exact
moment I changed my mind but it had something to do with 8 bear cub
like creatures crawling all over me and licking my face. Needless to
say, I fell in love - not only with my dog (Riggs) but also with the
breed in general. This is why I volunteer my time with the
Rottweiler Club of Canada.
Over the years, I believe I have proven myself as a dedicated and
responsible owner. I hope that the work the RCC does will help
educate existing and potential Rottweiler owners and breeders to
follow suit.
I was the Treasurer for the Rottweiler Club of Canada from 1998 to
2006. I have also helped out with the Rottweilers in Canada
newsletter and helped organize an annual German style Sieger show
held in Niagara-on-the-Lake on Labour Day weekend.
The Rottweiler Club of Canada was featured on CH Morning Live
September 25, 2001. During the 3 hour program, we had an opportunity
to present the breed in a positive light. I’ve had a few
opportunities to be on television to speak on behalf of the
Rottweiler Club of Canada. I believe there is a lot to be said about
our dogs that people need to hear. This is one of the reasons I
accepted the position of Communications Chairperson in 2006.
My goal is to never hear negative news reports about this breed
again. We can accomplish this if we all work together. Thank you for
your interest in the Rottweiler Club of Canada. Your membership is
important and if you are not a member yet - what are you waiting
for?
