December 11, 2007

My older girl Lucy made Rottweiler history on November 10 of this year at the Niagara Regional Herding Trial in Niagara Falls, ON.  She became the first Rottweiler in history to obtain a CKC Stock Dog Started title.  She did it in grand style by also going High In Trial with a score of 90.5.  She also managed to obtain a leg towards her Herding Advanced title.  Lucy has had a HUGELY successful year in herding.  She added several herding titles (on top of her many titles already) and also graced the pages of the Dogs in Canada issue in November under Urban Herding, she was on the front cover of the Mexican Rottweiler Magazine and also appeared in the local paper for her appearance at the Scottish Highland Games for the Border Collie demonstration (the 1st non-border collie to be invited).  I think she used up her 15 mins. of fame!!

My boy Logan obtained his SCH 1 this past weekend at the Tucson Rottweiler Club SCH trial under SV Judge, Dieter Traeger.  Logan did it in grand style by scoring a perfect 100 in tracking.  He also took High in Trial with his scores beating out a GSD, a Malinois and a Doberman for that honour.  Huge thanks go out to his trainer and handler, Andreas Mueller.   The weather conditions were anything but favourable - high winds, rain and cold - perfect weather for a Rottweiler!!!  I wish great success to Andreas and Logan for this coming weekend as they go for their SCH 2 (then on to the SCH 3 and BST - hopefully in January if the trials work out)

He ended up accomplishing his new Amer. title, in only 3 trials and with placements.
We plan on continuing  to work towards more working titles for him and also obtain his American Championship in 2008.
He is now known as Multi-BPIS/BPISS Ch.Bali Hai's Bet'In On Me Am/Cdn CD HIC CGN.
Needless to say, we are very proud of the progress he has  made so far.

I am very pleased to be able to put this brag here for my girl Jewel, now formally known as Ch. and OTCH Shacoram's Just Say When CDI BH RL1 CGN TT HIC.  This weekend in Red Deer, we completed the requirements for her OTCH with limited trialling and with a high in class and fourth in class placement!

This was a huge thrill for me and I was happy to be able to share it with the members of my obedience club and some of my closest friends at the show and now here with everyone else!

This weekend Burton flew with handler Tony Carter to Anchorage to support the fabulous Alaska Rottweiler Club ( and to see his baby daughter ----- Parisans Domino of Ravenscrest)

As usual for Alaska  there was great competition with fine people and dogs. Yesterday, Burton took the BISS honors and Domino beat the boys to win BOTH Best in Specialty Sweepstakes and Best Puppy in Specialty ( handled by owner Anneliese Tschannen) then today under judge Andre B. Schoen  at breed level, John Connolly at Group level and Mrs. Schoen at BIS level , Burton won the day.

Apparently the sun was shining on that magnificent landscape all weekend. I couldn't go due to work commitments but they probably could have heard the shouts in Alaska when Tony called me to share the news of each day's events

This just a week after Burton's 8 month old son went Best of Winners and best Puppy at the Rottweiler Club of Canada BC Specialty over a large entry

We are so  very excited and look forward to hearing the stories as to how Tony will make it home with all of Burton's "loot" on the plane.

Although the official AKC numbers are not yet completed, we understand that Burton remains #3 in breed in the US and thereby will be receiving a coveted invitation to Westminster- still the only Canadian bred or owned rottweiler in the Top Twenty Five in the US. He remains #1 rottweiler in breed in Canada and has only been shown 2 weekends here-- with his 1/2 sister "Sugar" ( aka V-1 BOSS Am & Can Ch Ravenscrest Somelikeithot CD RN) hot on his heels at #2 in breed in Canada

Oops we almost forgot that Kobe who on the last weekend of October attained his coveted American TD  just passed the first leg of his American CDX  to add to his many performance titles. Kobe is '06 CRRC Sieger MBIS Multi V-1 ARC Select Am & Can Ch Ravenscrest The Talisman CI CGC RE CD TD  with a placement and score of 196. Kobe also has a couple of legs of his RAE and Khan's daughter "Jada" aka Ravenscrest Jade v Eaglehaus  finished her RE! Owner Rosemary Lenigan continues to do a fabulous job in training and handling

What a great month for our gang—Burton remains Canada’s #1 dog in breed and Sugar remains #1 bitch in breed. (RCC stats)  We are anxiously awaiting the AKC stats to see where Burton is in the September US Top 5 in breed and all-breed. Burton’s 7 month old son “Avro “ (Parisan’s Avro of Ravenscrest) had a great 2nd show,  in BC winning 2 puppy groups  to add to his CKC points!! Avro’s sister Aurora was shown in Manitoba on the same weekend by owner Amanda Halayko and unfortunately has no class competition but had way too much fun—we are looking forward to seeing Avro and his littermate Helo at the upcoming RCC Specialty in BC

I am very proud to share with you all that Levi (MBIS BISS GCH VonRoths Everlasting CD CGN HIC) was awarded his 13th Best in Show on September 16th at the Skaha Kennel Club show in Penticton, BC.

From Penticton, we headed down to Montana for a couple of US shows, where Levi took his first major by going Best of Breed from the classes over 22 rotties, including several specials. He also took WD one other
day for a couple more points.

These wins were made extra special because as always, Levi was owner-handled by my husband, Kevin.

Hi all,

Valen earned her HIC tonight!!  My wee girl of just 5 months did a beautiful job on her Herding Instinct Test.  At first she wasn't quite sure but once she found out that sheep MOVE they were super exciting!!

Very proud of my wee-girly and her very first title!! :-)  Valen is now:  Hemlock's ICame ISaw IConquered, HIC.  Parker also got to run as well. He already has his HCT, but he enjoys it so much I had to let him go.  He did a beautiful job of grouping / regrouping/driving and changed direction.  He called off easily and had a blast.

Despite the rain and cool temperatures, it was a great evening.  Thanks to Sue Jewel of "Have Ewe Herd?" for performing the test.  Special thanks to Ann Felske-Jackman for arranging the test for us!  Everyone had a great time.

Hi all,

Parker and I were in the Rally trial in Hamburg this weekend. We needed our last leg for our Rally Advanced. We got it!

Parker is now:  Can CH Hemlock's Echo V Highline, Am/Can CD, Am RA, HCT, TT, CGN

He already has 2 Canadian RN legs - we're just trying to find more trials to fit into our schedule to catch him up here at home.

Sunday, he got his first leg to his Rally Excellent! HUGE thanks to Ann Felske-Jackman for running him for me (while I was in Canada performing a CGN for the Upper Credit Humane Society).  Parker just adores her and it shows!!  Extra thanks to Terry & Dalton Risebrough for trucking Parker back for me on Sunday.  It couldn't have happened without you!

Valen got to socialize to her hearts content all weekend.  Her first big trip away, roadtrip and hotel.  She was so much fun.   It's hard to believe she'll already be 5 months old tomorrow!

Ice cream for everyone!!

Seeker's half brother, Kash, who is out of our first litter, earned his CD in 3 straight trials, all with placements.  He is now known as Akamai Harry Potter CD HIC.  He was trained and handled by his owner Dinah Warner of Grande Prairie.  This is Dinah's first obedience dog and has done an amazing job with this wild-child.

On top on that we missed HIT by one point. 8x's V-1, '06 ARC Select, ’07 CRRC Siegerin, '05 WCL Siegerin, Multi-USRC Adult Select ’04 ’07 & Multi-USRC Youth Select ‘03, Am/Can/ BIS UKC/ RBIS UCI Int'l Ch. It was a fabulous weekend for the Ravenscrest family-- this time in the spectacular location of the Mt. Bachelor Kennel Club shows in Redmond, (Bend) Oregon.  Big grass rings, sunshine and a view of the mountains and being surrounded by friends and "family" all made Burton's latest US Group win over some of the top US working dogs so exciting. Again there was some great success in the performance ring there with Dr. Bob & Rosemary Lenigan's "Kobe"  aka '06 CRRC Sieger MBIS Select AOM Am & Can Ch Ravenscrest The Talisman CD CS RE finishing his RE with a 3rd placement. Rosemary also received another RA qualifying score and placement on Ravenscrest Jade of Eaglehaus RN.  This spectacular setting was also the site of the introduction to the showing of another "Jada" ------at 6 months of age Parisan's Zathura of Ravenscrest was shown to perfection by owner Laura Kinne-- who had to run to the ring after winning the RE class with her older dog "Chase" -- all I can say about this wonderful show is that if you haven't been there-plan for next year

Another major for Kona! having been shown only 3 weekends in total in the US ( other than ARC Nationals ) Kona has 2 majors to her name-- this last one at the Canby Oregon shows was handled by Pam Boles. Kona has had an amazing month with her CRRC Youth Siegerin and Most Beautiful Female in Show titles, her Select Award at the RCC Nationals and now her 2nd major- all very exciting for co-owner Cris Dickinson and on course, for Kona's daddy "Burton".

We are also very pleased to announce that Sugar (aka 2007 RCC #1 bitch in breed, Select AKC mjr ptd BOSS V-1 Can Ch Ravenscrest Somelikeithot Am CD) followed up her  "3 up 3 down" CD with an equally impressive  performance for her RN-- in classes of 15-20 in Novice B at the Gridley, California shows, Sugar showed her stuff with Teresa Bradley on the leash by earning 3 consecutive Q's and 3 consecutive placements, with scores of 97, (2nd place) 99 (3rd place) and 94 (4th place), she obtained her AKC RN!! This dog has done so much as an ambassador for the breed over her 11 years and it was wonderful that Dogs in Canada magazine wanted to show that there are a lot of truly great Rottweilers in Canada. Slider,as she is known, visits seniors residences, cancer kids Christmas parties, given many kisses to the crowds who attend the Iams Superdog performances across the US and Canada, dances with her sister,"Esmonds Loping Thru the Mud,Am/Cn. We are very excited to announce that for the 5th month in a row ( Jan- May 2007) Burton ( BIS/BISS Select 1 Am & Can Ch Ravenscrest The Alchemist CGC TDI TT) is one of the top  dogs in the US. Notwithstanding his time off in May to come to Canada to win the National Specialty and a BIS here-- he is #6 in both breed and all-breed stats for the AKC – since the end of May however he has won more  Group 1s and 2s in the US so  for June it appears that he will climb that extraordinarily difficult US ranking  even higher. This week Burton defeated both the #1 and #2 rottweilers in the US in breed competition as they are all together at the Montana circuit-. More exciting news in the performance arena as Rosemary Lenigan advises that Kobe  ( ’06 CRRC Sieger, MBMIS  Select AOM Am & Can Ch Ravenscrest The Talisman CD RA CS HIC CGC TT) passed a leg of his Rally Excellent, while Jada (Eaglehaus Jade v Ravenscrest RN) passed a leg of her rally Advanced.

Just a small brag for our Jake (Ch.Bali Hai's Bet'In on Me.Cdn/CD,HIC,CGN)  Since we were only able to get away to the USA for a Saturday & Sunday show, we knew he would have to try to ace it, both days.  Well, it was brazing hot and humid and the dogs were all fading fast.  But in true gambler spirit....we "bet" that he would come through forus....and he did.  He got his two legs towards his Amer/CD and a second and fourth placement in Novice B.! The RAVENSCREST report of  our RCC National Specialty

There was great competition ( 25 specials a total  entry of 125) from Ca, Wa, Or, Fla, Co etc this year and both of the bitches winning AOM's ( of 3 awarded) were our Kona ( Burton's daughter ) and Sugar  aka V-1  BOSS AKC mjr ptd Can Ch Ravenscrest Somelikeithot Am CD co-owned by Gaye & Robert Preston and bred by usA( Burton's 1/2 sister via dam : Paris) RWD was Kona's littermate Ozzie and in a very tough Brood matron class  Paris at 9 years of age was the winner with Burton and Kobe at her side--Paris is almost 9 and is a US Kennel Review Top Producer so designated by ARC on the day before the Specialty (Friday) , Burton's daughter Kona -- BPIS  06 ARC Nat'l BOSSw AKC mjr ptd  RCC '06 Top Ten Can Ch Parisan's Kona of Ravenscrest CGC HIC bred by Suzanne Eikanger-Stoops  and owned by Cris Dickinson and us  defeated an entry of 48 ( including her dad) to win Breed and then went onto Group 1! under working dog judge Roger Goldstone, on the all-breed day of Specialty Burton won breed with Sugar going BOS and Burton onto Group 1 and yesterday ( Sunday I think)  Burton won Breed, Sugar won BOS and Burton won group 1  this time under esteemed US judge John Rowton and on to Best In Show  over the #1 working dog in Canada and #1 dog all-breeds in Canada -- and to top it all off today Burton won breed again with Sugar going BOS again and Ozzie going BW for a 5 pt win----Burton then took group 3 under judge Donna Cole to a Bear dog which is a Champion in too many countries to  count and apparently  the #1 Canadian working dog-

Over all Burton defeated about 250 rottweilers this past weekend-  and about 500-600 all-breed dogs. Sugar defeated about 75-80 rottweilers

Best Bred  By Exhibitor  Award  and Best Canadian Bred awards were both won by  Burton- he  is the 3rd littermate in as many Specialties in BC in 3 years i.e all of them-- where the latter award was won by a Ravenscrest Magic litter boy- the previous ones  having being won by Miles ( Am & Can Ch Ravenscrest Black Magic TDI CGC) and Radar (CKC #1 male in breed 2006, BISS AOM Am &  Can Ch Ravenscrest The Navigator TDI TT CGC ) respectively

Of note is that at the '03 RCC Nationals Burton was Best Puppy in Specialty and now wins BISS and Kobe was Best in Sweeps in'03 and now wins BOSSw ( Breeder's Sweeps)

On May 17, we attended a Herding Instinct Test with Shelley Fritzke, a CKC herding judge, in Chilliwack, BC. Tarot is now Neu-Rodes Northern Shadow HIC

I'd also like to add that I thoroughly enjoyed the Rottweiler National Show, as a new member and new owner I appreciated meeting friendly, interesting people during the weekend. But wish to add a special thank you to Traci Geremia, Marina Skoreiko, Heather Peters and Kristi Fraser for their support.

A huge Brag for my tailed Rottweiler... May 11,12,13 in Arnprior, Eirikr Von Danhel Haus took Best of Breed all three days and on the Saturday went a Group 3rd!!!!!
With only his second time out, he is sitting with 8 points towards his championship!!

Also this past weekend, at the Herding Instinct Trial in Vankleek Hill 4 of my dogs showed amazing instinct.

The one that stands out the most was "Regal" Ch. Kaynoble's Furst in Canada was so impressive the handler could not say enough, she was amazed by his control and style... Looks like we found his calling.

Thank you Johnna for a fun and exciting day~

May 17, we attended a Herding Instinct Test in Chilliwack at the home of CKC herding judge, Shelley Fritzke.  She ran Seeker (Akamai Dreamseeker) and Dax (Ch. Akamai Rubeus Hagrid TT) through the test, and both passed with FLYING colors earning their HICs.

May 18, the first day of the of the specialty, started off with a BANG.  Jewel (Ch. Shacoram's Just Say When CDX CDI BH RL1 CGN TT HIC) and I entered into the utility ring (for just the second time) and with a few minor errors, Jewel earned the first leg of her UD title with a High in Class score.  That afternoon, Seeker and I went into Sweeps and she earned a second place ribbon in the 9-12 month class.

I should also mention that Traci Geremia, Kim Zippel and Michelle Whistlecraft and I were entered in team obedience and WHATTA LAUGH!  We earned a 735 out of 800, and the dogs were great!  It was a lot of fun!

May 19, the specialty day, we had Bauer (Akamai Dr McDreamy) entered in his first show, and he came in second place in the senior puppy male class showing very nicely for a 'green' puppy.  In the Senior puppy female class, Tessa (Akamai Dream a Little Dream) and Seeker went 1 and 2 both being taken out of the line up to move out again for the judge.  He was pleasantly surprised that they were littermates when we showed up for a picture at the lunch break!!

Dax and Moka (Ch. Akamai Time Turner TT HIC) both showed beautifully as well in the specials class.  They, along with Seeker,  helped Jewel earn second place in the Brood Bitch class.  That was a dream as I thought there was just no way we would even be looked at given the calibre of the competition and my little girls!

Special thanks to Marina Skoreiko for handling both Tessa and Seeker when we needed her!  It was a fantastic show, EXCELLENT job Deb!

AND, while all of this was happening on the WET coast, in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, Jester (Akamai Dreaming Jester PCD) earned another point towards his Championship going Best of Breed 2 days!  What a weekend this was!

Now back to reality I guess!

Hello All

I would like to say huge congratulations to Debbie for her totally terrific and professional RCC Nationals. Everything was perfect with the humongous rosettes, silent auction .. I was most impressed with the attention to detail... it was a huge accomplishment and shows the results of a number of years of Debbie's consistent and persistent steady work for the show and working rottweilers in our community.
Congratulations to the new TD's and have not heard about the herding results yet,,,

I was pleased there was OB at the show... I trialed Luka for her Can Cd she has her American I earned a 194.5 but there was good competition with Marion Postage ( OB and CKC conformation judge with Pinkie, Qualicums Audrey Bryloukis) with a 196 but HIT went to Novice A not sure of the ladies name with a 196.5 , what was great there was a number of competitive Rottweilerr OB dogs that not only could do the OB job but also looked good.
Congratulations to all competitors!!

The only thing I wished for was that at least one of they days there had been a Rottweiler Specialist judge to critique the entry,,,,

Was fun and what a huge entry!!!!
Congratulations to Debbie.... nice to see Rottweiler Quarterly , Jill Kessler pitching in with great style and panache...

I'm very happy to announce a new TD!!

I just got the phone call that Tosca - V-1 (at 12 months old), Multi BPIG (5x), Cdn. Ch. Trojan's Persuasion of Rothburg CGN - Group Placer (20 months old) just earned her TD at the RCC National Tracking Trial!

So far 3 tracks have been done, and Tosca has been the only one to pass (and the youngest entry, too).  I'm told the conditions are a little windy at the moment, and there are quite a few distractions.

Tosca is out of Diezel (Multi Best in Show, Multi V-1, '00 ARV Cdn. Nat'l. Youth Sieger, Multi AOM, Multi BVIS, Am/Can/UCI Int/BIS UKC Ch. Roborotts Traders Edge HIC TT CGC CGN - RCC Hall of Fame, CRRC Hall of Fame - #1 Rottweiler 2002 and 2003) x Bronte (  rated, Cdn. Ch Dexsan Aloisia CD, CGN, HIC, TT), owned and trained by Cheryl and Bob Jefferson, and bred by Loraine and Neil Jesse.

We had a successful weekend over at the Victoria Rottweiler Club.  ‘Artemis’ earned her BST & then picked up another V-1 placement in a class with some very tough competition.  She went on to earn Adult Select also. She is now ; 7x's V-1, '06 ARC Select, '05 WCL Siegerin, Multi USRC Adult Select, Multi USRC Youth Select '03, Am/Can/UKC/UCI Int'l Ch. Maplemor's Artemis V Evrmor, Am/Can CDX, BH, BST, TD, TR1, RN, HIC,TT, CGC. As always the Victoria Rottweiler club put on a fabulous show. Andreas Muller judged both the BST & the show. Kurt Meacham was the helper & did some amazing work with all the dogs. All 5 BST dogs passed. Everyone was very impressed with Kurt as the helper & I heard lots of excellent compliments about him.

We had a great time this weekend at the Assiniboine Kennel Club show in Winnipeg.  Our girl Tmavy (V2 rated, Ch. Stonerose Tmavy Koralek CD, HIT, CGN, HIC) was entered in her first obedience trials and earned her CD.  She went high in class in three out of 4 trials and on Sunday she took High in Trial.  She did all this in spite of me.  We’re really proud of our girl.  Thanks for letting me share this news.

Belated Brag from March ...

Just wanted to announce that our "Jake"(Multi BPIS, Multi BPISS, Ch. Bali Hai's Bet"In On Me, CD) earned his CD title this weekend!

All of this was accomplished in 4 trials in Novice B, with his highest score being 196. He also received 2nd and 3rd place placements.

At one point in the long down it became a real nail bitter..... As Jake's ears & eyes perked up to the limit!.........
His ring  was sandwiched between flying dogs & dumbbells on one side and twirling rally dogs on the other side.
But he held himself and seemed content to just amuse himself with all the entertainment.

I must admit that...that was the "longest" 3 minutes of my life!!!!!!

Now on to his Amer CD & his Cdn CDX!!!!!

We heard happy news from Rosemary Lenigan this weekend who tells us her Kobe ( aka CRRC Sieger , Most Beautiful Male, ARC Select. AOM  Am & Can Ch Ravenscrest The Talisman CD  CS RN RA CGC HIC TDI)  passed both his 2nd and 3rd legs of his RA with scores of  95 and 97 - or is it 195 and 197(?) taking a placement on one of the days. Kobe was tracking certified by the AKC a few weeks ago so I anticipate that will be his next endeavour along the way to RE.

Also Sugar aka V-1 BOSS AKC major ptd Can Ch Ravenscrest Somelikeithot CD continued her winning ways with Teresa Bradley at the helm by winning breed twice in the past week over the male Specials- very exciting indeed for new co-owners Bob & Gaye Preston. Sugar is 2 years old and just needs a 3pt major to finish in the US - having been reserve to a major a number of times -and then we will look forward to seeing what she can produce after her "retirement" at the end of this year. And great news in the mail for Neil and Loraine Jesse - Beckham (Cdn. Ch. Rothburg's Not For The Innocent TT) receives his Canadian Championship certificate! (seems someone forgot to include the BOW points in his point tally <g>).

We have been very excited to see Joanne & Robert Thatcher's Radar ( aka BISS AOM AM  & Can Ch Ravenscrest The Navigator CGC TDI ) remaining at the #1 spot in Canada for rottweilers defeated ( together with his 1/2 sister  "Sugar" BOSS AKC mjr ptd Can CH Ravenscrest Somelikeithot also in the Top ten even though she was only shown 2 weekends in total) but this week  Radar 's littermate "Burton" ( co-owned with Jason Ough of Kelowna BC)  was listed and is  the only Canadian bred dog (or owned) dog in the  2007 US Top Ten ( at #7 breed and #14 all-breed)  and that is quite a thrill.

We are looking forward to a very exciting year with Burton who just won back to back breeds ( including under breeder judge Bob Busby) and a Group 4 in Hartford CT this past weekend before he returns to the Pacific Northwest.

We also look forward to seeing certain of Burton's puppies from a breeding to Suzanne Eikanger Stoops "Irma" in the rings later  this year - not the least of which will be our baby -----Parisan's Domino of Ravenscrest who will be making the trip to Alaska with her owner Anneliese Tschannen

I am a very proud Grandma today with one of my first 'Grandma' brags!  In Regina, Saskatchewan today, one of my puppies earned his Pre-Novice title.  Perhaps to some no big deal, but to me this is GREAT since Jester (Akamai Dreaming Jester PCD) is one week shy of 8 months old!  His owners, Bill and Charmian Robb of Regina, are doing a fabulous job with this little man and I could not be more proud as the breeder of this young pup.

Jester is out of my girl Jewel (Can. Ch. Shacoram's Just Say When CDX CDI BH RL1 CGN TT HIC) and Buddy (Am/Can. Ch. Von Marc's It's Bud Time Am/Can. CDX CGC) and is the first obedience titled offspring for Jewel!

Thanks for letting me brag!

It was another big American weekend for the Ravenscrest gang in Portland, Oregon. On Saturday , Sugar was handled to Winners bitch by Teresa Bradley  and then to Best of Winners by breeder-owner Pamela Boles. This win over 40+ Rottweilers was a 4 point major  under judge Doris Cozart. 2nd to Sugar in the very competitive Open class that day was her “neice” “Kona. On Sunday, it was Kona’s turn to go Winners bitch – handled by Michelle Pinsker- Yeadon ,also for a 4 point major. Burton was also a Best of Breed winner handled by Tony Carter defeating an entry of 43 rottweilers under Dr. Donald Gill from Texas . What a debut for Sugar’s co-owners Bob & Gaye Preston to “ the big leagues” of major  AKC competition.  Not to be left out our French bulldog “Willy” finished his American Championship with his 3rd  5 point Best of Winners win.
