Last weekend, we wrapped up the 2004 show season by attending the Calgary Kennel & Obedience Club show. Our boy "Levi", aka CH VonRoths Everlasting, did us proud by taking Best of Breed on both Saturday & Sunday, owner handled by Kevin. Our junior puppy, "Geordy", aka VonRoths Gorgeous George, picked up 2 more points by going Winners Male on Friday & Sunday, also owner handled. As novices to the show scene, we have really appreciated the encouragement & support we received from our breeders, Elaine Roth & Ken Cowan, this past year.

We are happy to report that this past weekend, at the Grande Prairie Kennel Club show, our boy "Levi", aka CH VonRoths Everlasting, took Best of Breed at all four shows. In the very competitive group ring, he managed to make the cut 3 out of 4 times (one judge didn't do a cut). Close, but no cigar! Equally exciting for us was our new little guy's debut in the show ring. At just six months of age, Junior Puppy "Geordy", aka VonRoths Gorgeous George, managed to go Winners Male at one show, for his first 2 points.

I just wanted to add a really big brag here, V Rated Canadian Champion Jotunheims Goddo vom Artahl took Best of Breed in a FCI sanctioned show in India on the weekend of November 6th 2004. His new owners are estatic and the judges were very impressed that a Rottweiler of that quality could come from Canada.

I have also been asked to visit India January 2005 to help establish the very first Rottweiler Club of India. I hope with the Executives approval I can take copies of the RCC bylaws, mandates etc etc to help them set up a club that will be recognized by the FCI and IFR.

Sincerely

VVN1 BPISS AOM Multi V-Rated, RCC Hall of Fame, Am.Can CH Maplemor ARU The One v Evrmor, Am. TDX, CGC (aka Logan) received his UCI International Championship, along with a few group placements and a Best in Show Bred By - Adult Class. All this in two days of showing.

His half sister Brita could not be outdone by her half brother Logan, so she also took Best in Show Bred-By Puppy Class at 15 weeks of age!!!! There were a lot of older puppies than her in her class (which goes all the way up to 18 months of age I believe). So Brita received her International Baby CH as did her brother, Zephyr, who also obtained his International Baby CH.

Congrats to my sister, Debbie Haynes (who is also the breeder on the dogs), who handled both Logan and Brita to their big wins and new titles.

Very Proud Mom of Logan - Gwen Haynes

What an exciting weekend! Our boy, Levi, aka CH VonRoths Everlasting, made his debut as a Special at the Edmonton Kennel Club fall show. Since our handler was unable to attend the show, we decided to go it alone. The first day, owner handled by my husband Kevin, Levi took BOB & a Group 2nd. As if that wasn't exciting enough, the next day he repeated the BOB win, & went on to take a Group 3rd. We are both so proud of our boy! Once again, we would like to thank Elaine Roth & Ken Cowan for creating this beautiful dog & entrusting him to us.

Well we are a long way from home-- Vancouver BC to Minneapolis MN --for the Northstar Specailty under Mr. John Connolly but we have a sentimental attachment to this show

We are very excited to announce that 20 month old "Burton" aka BPISS, BPIG, Can Ch Ravenscrest The Alchemist HIC CGC took Winners Dog and Best of Winners (one dog short of a 5 point major) defeating approximately 50 rottweilers for the honour.

Burton's sire ( our "Khan" ) took Winners Dog under Joe Hedl in 2001 here

Burton was handled to Winners by Perry Payson and to Best of Winners by an accomplished junior Kevin Springer

Congratulations to all but especially to dear friends Sue & Stuart Larsen whose Elvis was sparkling in the sun and took the BISS honours. Burton's dam "Paris" was bred to Elvis and we await the results of an ultrasound tomorrow--perhaps for the 2006 or 2007 candidate

I have a couple of pretty nice reasons to list a brag of my own. My little girl, Jewel, finished her championship this weekend at the Evelyn Kenny Kennel and Obedience Club show going Winners Bitch on both the Saturday and Sunday for two points both days. She also, the same day as she earned her championship, earned her CD title with her THIRD High in Class placement! I am extremely proud as she is my first champion!!! She is now formally known as Can. Ch. Shacoram's Just Say When CD BH HIC!!

We would like to thank everyone who has worked so hard with her this summer; Brian Oreel and Charissa Macdonell-Mis, for taking her to Cold Lake for me and getting her three points a few weeks ago, and especially to her two favorite Aunties, Traci Geremia and Gwen Haynes, for handling her and loving her ALMOST as much as I do! And to Jackie Hastie and Pauline Baldwin for their never ending (and much needed) obedience advice and classes!

Thanks for letting me brag!

Heather Peters writes...
This past weekend was an exceptionally good one for the Rottweiler breed at the Lethbridge & District Kennel Club show in Lethbridge AB.  I would like to offer my congratulations to all my co-exhibitors on their beautiful dogs and their accomplishments this weekend, and my deepest apologies for any achievements I've inadvertently missed.

On Friday and Saturday the up and coming youngster "Kane" Ch Wathaman's Shogun, owned by Gay Webber and breeder handled by Heather Smith took 2 BOB and 2 Group 1 Placements, while my girl "Jenna" Ch Motia's Jellybean Jenna Lutz CGC was beautifully handled to 2 BOS wins by handler Peggy Mignon.  On Sunday Jenna and Peggy took the Breed and her first ever Group 1 Placement, while the gorgeous boy "Logan" aka Am/Can Ch Maplemor's ARU The One TDX owner handled by Gwen Haynes to a BOS win.  Also on Sunday the BPIG went to the gorgeous boy "Barlow" aka Wathaman's Trail For Success who was owner handled by Kim Zippel.

AND in the obedience ring............Kristi Fraser and her fabulous girl "Jewel" aka Shacoram's Just Say When BH completed 2 legs towards her CD with 2 High In Class Placements in Novice A!!  Meanwhile in Novice B owner Michelle Whistlecraft and her girl "Idol" aka Ch Wathaman's Roc to a Rebel Yell worked together for their CD getting not only High in Class Placements but also taking the High In Trial award.  In all it was a fabulous weekend for Rottweilers in Lethbridge felt perhaps most poignantly by myself as this is Jenna's last show for the year as she is being bred next week to the gorgeous "Caemon" aka Ch Rothburg's Kourage Under Fire CDX, Am CD, BH, DD, CS, CI, HIC, CGC and a Group 1 is a heck of a way to retire for the year!!  Congratulations once again on this past weekend to all my co-exhibitors, I hope to see you all at the Nationals (from my seat as a spectator), and once again next year when Jenna returns to the ring!!

Today Parker (CH Hemlock's Echo V Highline, CCGC, TT) and I entered our very first obedience trail.  We came out with a first in Novice A, High Point Novice A in Trial and High Scoring Rottweiler!  And of course, the important part of our first leg towards our CD!  Needless to say - I'm estatic.  I now know what it feels like to be a team with your dog as others have described to me.  Huge thanks to Kim Duff for her advice last night at the correction match.  Also to Ann Felske-Jackman and Cassie Levy for their cheering support!  I think I just may get hooked on this Obedience stuff.

Trish then updates us the next day to let us know that she and Parker earned CD leg #2 with another placement!  Way to go!!!

June 13, 2004

Ann Felske-Jackman notes that it was a good day for our breed today over in the obedience building at the Ontario County Kennel Club show.  The novice B class ended up with a runoff for what would eventually be High in Trial, between two Rottweiler bitches, both of whom earned scores of 196 1/2!   The winner was Donna Wielert's girl, AKC CT Kertzenlicht's Aggie v Dardon AKC UDX, BH, AD, FH2.  Aggie also was a HIT winner yesterday with a 196 and of course, she completed her CD title.  The other bitch was one of our young pups, Ch Esmonds Kaleidoscope of Quarks AKC CD, NJP, BH, U-AGII, CGC (Charm), owned by Lynette Nehmer.  Charm also earned her Canadian CD title this weekend!  Great job ladies!!!

Kristi Frasier had a great weekend...
Yesterday, I attended my very first Schutzhund trial here in Calgary.  WOW! The dogs were all amazing.  It was a great trial.  I had two of my guys entered in the BH portion of the trial.  I am proud to say that both of my dogs passed their BH tests.  My boy, Coultrains Poetic Justice CDX BH TT CGC HIC, or just Justice, is 5.5 years old and a good little worker.  It was not his most impressive heeling performance, but passed every exercise and did a good job over all.  My young girl (22 months old), Shacoram's Just Say When BH, or Jewel, did a lovely heeling pattern and did otherwise an excellent job other than sitting on her down out of motion, only to redeem herself with a great front and finish.  I am very proud of my guys today!  Thanks for letting me brag!!!

Gwen Haynes has some very exciting news to share...

"Logan" does it again (VVN1 BPISS Am/Can CH Maplemor ARU The One v Evrmor, TDX, CGC).  At the tender age of 21 months (and the youngest entered) earned his AKC TDX at the 2004 ARC Nationals.  Logan has an unbelievable nose and a drive to work.  Logan did me proud that day!!!  His grandmas were there to support and watch the whole thing.

Not to be out done, Logan's favourite "Auntie" rottie (who tracked with him when he was a wee 8 week old baby) Sancrest's Image of Evrmor, CD,TDX, CGC (aka "Tasha", 8 years young and oldest Rottie entered) was rewarded with the highest level of tracking in AKC - her VST.  This was Tasha's first time entered, making her one of the few Champion Trackers (now she gets to put a "C.T." in front of her name).  My sister, Debbie Haynes (who owns Tasha) was informed that Tasha is the first Rottie at a Rottweiler National to become a Champion Tracker.  I don't know which was more exciting, being at the end of the lead for Logan's TDX or watching Tasha track and obtaining this great accomplishment.

It was a quick trip to McDonald to celebrate with soft ice cream cones for all - including Logan's sire "Duke" and dam "Quantum" who came along for the ride that day.

Pam Boles has brags from the ARC National as well...
At 15 months of age  "Burton"  aka VP-1 BPISS BPIG Can Ch Ravenscrest The Alchemist HIC CGC TDI handled by Perry Payson was, we believe one of only 4 males between the ages of 6 months to 18 months of the roughly 85-90 entered who placed in  Futurity (2nd, judge Juan Griego), Sweepstakes (4th judge Jerome Sampson) and Regular classes ( 3rd Judge Karen Billings)

Littermates "Radar" (Ravenscrest The Navigator CGC TDI) owned by Joanne and Bob Thatcher and "Miles"  (Ravenscrest Black Magic) owned by Glenda Boswell were not far behind in the final cut in Futurity and the cut of 12 made by Ms. Billing from the 36 or so in their class. Both Radar and Burton made the final cut of 6 ( Radar being handled, for the first time by Anthony Groth)

"Miles", with owner Glenda Boswell handling passed both his CGC and TDI. "Radar" passed both of his as well and Burton ( who passed his CGC previously) passed his TDI.  "Miles" also passed his OFA cardiac clearance ( the 4th of 4 puppies tested so far from this litter to do so).

Just wanted to mention that I was at the Hamburg trials this past weekend as well and achieved 2 legs towards our American CD with scores of 193 and 195.5.

It was strange being in the novice ring again after doing a whole year of open and Rio could not figure out why the stewards were not bringing his dumbell.  He even tried to get to the stewards table to see where it was!  Congratulations to everyone at the show on the weekend, it was a lot of fun, the venue is very nice for obedience, albeit a bit crowded on Saturday when there was a lot of public there to watch.

Cheers,  Kim Duff

Whoopee! My Princess Emma has done it again!  Emma is now the proud owner of  yet another title! My little girl wrapped up her AKC CD leg over the weekend down in Hamburg, NY! The competition was tough, but she hammered out a 191 to get the job done! I am astonished once again at this little girl's tenacity! She is now Can. CH. Esmonds Jump for Joy Am/Can CD, CGN, TT, HIC!!!!!  And she is only 22 months old!!  What an amazing little Princess she is.

We have big news from the American Rottweiler Club's Regional Specialty in Hamburg, NY.  The biggest is that Mike and Yngo (Multi V-1, Multi BISS Ch Yngo van het Dornedal CDX, TD, SchHII, BST, BH, Am CD, TT, CGC) not only went WD & BOW for a four point major, but Best of Breed at the Specialty!  They also went on to a Group 4 that day!!!  And if that wasn't enough, Yngo's 16 month old son, Ripley (Ch Kayla's Believe it or Not CGN) owned by clubmember Theresa Buck went Best in Sweepstakes and Reserve Winners Dog to Yngo!  Not to be left out, daughter Emma (Ch Esmonds Jump for Joy Can CD, TT, HIC, CGN) finished her AKC CD and also placed in a very competitive Open Bitch class for owner Cassie Levy (above).  Yet another Yngo son, Rajah (Ch Esmonds Kinetic Energy TT) owned by clubmembers Tammy Lavigne and Carl Rowe, placed 2nd in his class and our little girl from the repeat breeding of Rajah, Bleu (Esmonds More than a Pretty Face HIC), was first in both her sweeps and regular classes.  Even our singleton Iza (Ch Esmonds Iza One and Only Am/Can CD, Am/Can TD, BH, TT, CGC) got into the action, winning the BBX bitch class each day!

On Sunday, Yngo went BOW for a fourth major and we're now pleased to say that in just 11 AKC shows, and completely owner-handled, Yngo is now officially a NEW AKC CHAMPION!!!
