RCC Event Day - Ontario




Hello everyone,

We couldn't have asked for a better day for our RCC Event Day on September 10th, 2005! We had PERFECT weather, great people and incredible dogs in attendance. Don't forget the wonder ducks!

The venue of Ann & Mike Jackman's was ideal. We were able to run the Temperament Test (TT) and the Herding Instinct Certificate (HIC) test at the same time. Once the TT was finished, we held the Canine Good Neighbour (CGN)! Our potluck lunch for over 40 people was a hit as well - with something under the sun for every palate.

Our evaluators for the TT, Olga Gagne and Arlene Richter were professional, organized and a pleasure to work with. They explained everything, described your dogs actions and were happy to discuss any questions. Our HIC Evaluator, Loretta Decarie of the All Breed Stock Dog Association was amazing. She and her ducks were the hardest workers of the day and her knowledge is boundless. Ann and I (my first time since becoming an evaluator) conducted the CGN. All of the dogs enjoyed the tests and the pride on the owners faces were priceless.

In total, we completed 63 tests and issued 40 certificates! We had mostly Rottweilers but also entertained 2 Corgi's, a Golden Retriever, an Aussie, an Irish Setter, a Bouvier and a Maltese! Everyone was so supportive and helpful, the day went off without a hitch.

I'd like to thank Ann & Mike for their generous donation of their home, time and hard work. Big thanks also go out to all of our helpers - the TT and CGN couldn't have happened without you.

I cannot tell you all how rewarding this day was for everyone involved. Even the dogs 'sang' their appreciation during the lunch break for all to hear and enjoy (who knew Parker was a tenor?? ;-)).

To top it off, the event raised $315.00 total, to which half ($157.50) will go to Ontario Events and the other half to our own, Canadian IFR Team. They'll be competing in the IFR World Championship, held in Clermont, Florida on November 18-20, 2005. Please join us in wishing them luck! I'm sure they'll do us proud.
